Ruination

Last night, I took a night off. No rolling, no stretching. Just a night off. Even better, it was really a night of self-pampering. After work, I went and met my steel-thumbed massage therapist, and had a very very relaxing hour on the table.

When I got home, I pulled this out of the fridge:


It's Stone Ruination IPA. Someone here at work (who has beer opinions that I trust) recommended this to me. He suggested pulling it out of the fridge for about an hour before drinking. (Failure to do so may leave you with more of a bitter taste than you expect)

My opinion of this was that... it's wonderful. It pours a nice gold color, with very fine carbonation bubbles. There is a moderate head when poured, but it goes away fairly quickly.

The smell is quite hoppy. Definitely hoppy. The taste has a decent amount of bitterness, as well. However, with the beer slightly warmer than fridge temperatures, you get some other tastes with it.. I'd like to say some pine taste in there. Other reviews mention some citrus taste in there. I didn't get those, but I'm still a bit congested from my cold last week.

Excellent beer (provided you like IPAs and hoppy beers).. it was $4.99 for a big bottle (~22oz).


Today, I got back to the foam rolling this morning, and plan to do more tonight.. whoo-boy!

Deep Tissue

Welp, I went out today and got a 'Deep Tissue' massage. Holy cow. Total awesomeness. It's been 3 months since I last had a massage, and I was really glad I went. I'd never had a deep tissue one before, either, so I thought it might help out my calves and such.

The therapist worked on my calves for quite a bit, and then remarked that I could withstand quite a bit of pressure. *chuckle*

I also went and took my bike to the bike shop to have it tuned up. With all of the snow on the ground, I'm not going to be riding it any time soon, most likely.

Evidently, it's a slow time at the bike shop. I got a call a couple of hours later talking about all of the items they had done (things repaired with electrical tape? Really? That's what I get for buying a bike from a friend. :) ), along with concern over the wear on my front rim. So, I'm getting a new front rim. Why not?

The Bootie Busting continues to go well. I have no idea how many points I have, nor do I know what others have. Ah well, I'll have to total it up at some point. We've got about 2 weeks to go, I reckon.

So yeah, I think I'll just keep staying on vacation (retire?) and working out most days. It's pretty enjoyable. Wonder what my wife will say. hah!

Relaxing Friday

So, I took Friday off. No work. That right there makes the day about 5000 times better than a normal Friday.

I woke up, and launched into my pushups. I finished Week 4, Day 2. Not over the top style, but I did get them done. I don't especially enjoy jumping into physical activity immediately after getting up, but the day called for it.

I went off to see the barber. It was kind of funny.. A few guys there, nothing too out of the ordinary. After a while, one guy couldn't wait any longer, and he got up and left. Probably only had another 20 minutes to go. My hair sure as heck isn't going to take long to cut. But, it was nice, just sitting there and not having to worry about being any place at any particular time.

After I got my hair cut to the appropriate 1/4-3/8 inches long, I went to Mickey D's for some breakfast burritos.. Yum yum. I do love breakfast burritos.

Then...

I went for a massage. I had a gift certificate from Christmas, so this one was free. My oh my.

Let me tell you, if you've never had a massage, it is so worth it. Save up the bucks and go. Just once. Just to see what it's like.


This was my 4th ever in my life (over a period of 6 years or so. :) ). There is no doubt this was the best one yet. I was a bit worried when I met my therapist.. She was this tiny thing, I was unsure of whether she would be able to get the kinks out.

Her thumbs were like machines made of steel. Wow. Totally fricken awesome. So good, I made another appointment for next month. hah.


I also went out to lunch later in the day. In front of the Lowe's in our area, there's a sandwich cart. It always smells really really good.
I ordered up a cheesesteak..... and it was good. Pricey, but good.

Believe it or not, that was one of the items off of my 'things to do in life' list. Sweet. A good day when I knock one of those off.


It was a nice day off. I'm going to have to do this more often.
