Big news..

So, I've been sitting on this for a bit. Even a few months ago, this was in my mind.

Yeah.. Big news. Life as I know it is turning upside down, inside out, and going every which-way. Consider it a glimpse into my personal life. :)

Ladies and gentlemen, here it is..

I'm having a baby. Well, not me, really. I offered to my wife, but yeah, no. She's having the baby.

There will be a mini-Raul on the Earth in a couple of months. Brace yourselves. :P

This will be my first child, and yes, I really have no idea what I'm in for.
(I verified with my wife that we checked off the box for 'already potty trained' and such, so I'm sure we'll be good to go.) I have a sneaky suspicion that my days of lounging in bed on the weekends until 9:30 or 10:00 are coming to an end.

So, we've been doing all of the various 'new parent' things- building a nursery, taking some classes, etc. We've got most of the stuff we need (or think we need, at least).

We're fortunate to have a lot of family in the area, and there's a lot of wisdom and experience to lean on there.

And, with that, I'm off to an ultrasound. :)

CONGRATS BROTHER!1! Maybe I WILL send you some Trappist ale in celebration!

Because when we got Ian (we adopted him from Korea and he got here when he was like 3 and a half months old so I'm no help with what you'll have to deal with re: the actual pregnancy and the first 3 months, which, they say, if the baby's gonna be colicky, that's when it'll happen, so Teh 'B. and I missed all that, too) - but ..

When we got Ian, it was the GREATEST, HAPPIEST day either of us EVER had! And there will be challenges for you and the wife, brother, but they are SO worth it and worth way more!

I am really happy for you! Because Ian is 9 now, but every single day he's been with us has been another adventure, and even though you kinda look back at the time when he was really young and think you long for those days - and maybe you really do long for them a bit - you still get to see all kinds of new things with each passing days. And then THESE days'll be the ones you're longing for a year or two from now.

Just enjoy each day. Even the lousy ones (and there will be some).

But all-in-all, you're in for the best time of your LIFE, brother, and I am really HAPPY for you and your wife!

Man, there I was, typing that first comment as fast as i could so i could be FIRST, and your blog hands me friggin "kreriuma" as a word verification, which I of course misspelled (there's an incorrect way to spell "kreriuma"?) but I STILL got here first to say CONGRATS, man!

And now your blog gives me "tenticuo". Why does your blog hate me?

wow!! congrats, man! that is wonderful news. yeah, i think sleeping in til 9-10 may take a brief hiatus (unless you want your wife to kill you), but you probably won't even miss it :) now, which jogging stroller are you getting?

Congrats!! I just hope the beer reviews don't stop. If nothing else, the baby may give you more reasons to drink. ;-)

Congrats!!
Now you definitely need a jogging stroller, and you can start looking for kiddie fun runs in like 3 years.

OMGOSH CONGRATS!! Welcome to hell is all I'm gonna say (TOTALLY PLAYIN!) You will love it. ITA with G. There are a lot of challenges that come with having kids but at the end of the day when your little McNugget (or in your case mini Raul) looks at you gives you a big hug and kiss and says "I love you" it makes it all the worthwhile. Plus it's your very own toy that you can screw up, cool huh? :P

Now, in 15-16 short years, you too will have somebody living in the house with you that knows everything! :-)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! What excellent news! And that you were able to keep it from this nosy blogosphere all this time :)

Yes - no more lounging around until mid-morning, but soooo worth it.

Enjoy every single moment.

Congratulations to the two of you! Your first child is such and exciting and frightening time. You'll get through it - but you can forget about 'sleeping in' being anything other than making it to 6am.

Good luck with your first ultrasound...that was where my wife and I were shocked to find out our first would be our first AND second.
